  Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, iceskating and all the family-friendly winter activities are right by The Cottages on Petite Lake at Wilmot Mountain, about 20 minutes away. Grand Geneva Mountain is only a 40 minute drive as well.

  Our pier system has a Bar Dock, rental boats, and plenty of space for fishing!

  Our own invention- The Bar Docks. Put your drinks inside the trough to prevent them from falling over! Extra seats have been installed and are available on a first come, first serve basis.

  Views from the rooftop deck. This amenity is available for all guests to enjoy the views, lounge chairs, tables, grills, and outdoor fireplace! All on a first come, first serve basis.

  Newly built fireplace on the rooftop deck. It is a real wood-burning fireplace. It's available on a first come, first serve basis unless the space is otherwise reserved. Bring your own firewood or order delivery from us!

  Herbs for all! Our herb garden is full of parsley, mint, basil and sage. Add it to your food and beverages at your leisure.

  35 stairs lead from the cottage and parking lot down to the beach and pier.

  The gazebo is the "landmark" of our property. Keep an eye out for it while navigating your way here. It's well lit at night to assure everyone makes there way! Pro tip: use Google maps instead of the navigation app provided on your cell phone.

  When the ice freezes in the winter we create an ice rink! Bring skates or boots and enjoy the outdoors. Ice fishing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross country skiing- there is plenty to do!

This charming 2 BR, 1 BA cottage is just steps away from the beach on Petite Lake.
The Little Blue Cottage has original cypress wood (just like our main Lodge) and 2 lovely bedrooms, a full living room with a sleeper sofa, and a sparkling eat-in, well-equipped kitchen. Just outside is a garden with a private grill and fire pit.

Sandy feet. Boating. Bonfires. Fishing. Lazy summer days. Picnics. Simple and charming cottages. A return to the old school family vacation. A perfect retreat to escape the daily grind and a place to unwind with family or friends. This is our vision for The Cottages on Petite Lake.

On any given day, you’ll find David, his daughter Jessica or staff around the property restoring this quirky, charming cottage resort. Most were built in the early 1900s. Ten have been fixed up including the houseboat, a tiny house, the big lodge, and a yacht.

A labor of love, The Cottages on Petite Lake is the Chiesa family’s passion to serve the community by providing a retreat from the busy world we live in so guests can connect with themselves and each other while enjoying the outdoors.

Located on Petite Lake, this charming 2BR cottage is on the Cottages on Petite Lake property with access to boats, swimming, fishing, and beautiful morning sunrises.

The beach is private for guests of the property. There are chairs and fire pits for each unit. We have kayaks, paddle boards, water hammocks, floats and beach toys available (free - first come first serve). There is also a picnic area and fun community feel!

We have a beautiful Pontoon boat available for rent separately.

We always try to have a manager or maintenance person on site. Guest interaction can be as frequent or minimal as you make it! We can be contacted through the app or called/texted directly at any time. Phone numbers are provided upon arrival. We try to greet all guests personally and give a brief tour of the property and amenities. Looking forward to meeting and sharing our passion with you!

The Chain O'Lakes is in northeast Illinois and is composed of 15 lakes connected by the Fox River and man-made channels. Encompassing more than 7,100 acres of water, 488 miles of shoreline and 45 miles of river, the Chain is a recreational waterway offering fun for everyone. Located on the border of Lake County and McHenry County, the area is about an hour's drive from the cities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and Rockford. Additionally, the Chain O'Lakes includes the beautiful Chain O'Lakes State Park which borders three lakes.

*We are in nature. Expect spiders, webs, ants, bees, mosquitoes or other usual lake house critters. You'll see lots of chipmunks, squirrels and bunnies around and wake up to the birds chirping, too!

*There are security cameras on the parking lot, beach and piers for safety and rental boat purposes. No cameras are on/in any of the rental units or outdoor yard spaces.

*The beach is accessed by an outdoor set of stairs.
